On Friday, 3rd November 2017, the 5th Tallinn Illustrations Triennial “The Power of Pictures” will open in the National Library of Estonia. The exhibition will be shown until November 30th.
More than 200 original illustrations will be shown by seventy-four artists coming from the Baltic sea region as well as, for the first time ever, from Spain, Italy, Iran, and Belarus.
At the same time, the Estonian Children’s Literature Centre presents a double exhibition by Latvian illustrators Anita Paegle and Gundega Muzikante and a solo exhibition by Piotr Socha.
During the Triennal, an international jury will evaluate all participating works and choose a winner for the best illustrations. The jury members are Jüri Mildeberg and Juss Piho from Estonia, Gundega Muzikante and Anita Paegle from Latvia and Piotr Socha from Poland.
The Tallinn Illustrations Triennial is held every three years. The Triennial is organized by the National Library of Estonia, the Estonian Graphic Designers Association, the Estonian Children’s Literature Centre, and the Estonian Section of IBBY. Book artists from the Baltic Sea countries – Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, Russia, Poland, Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark – participate.
