A Serious Thought

One night, a little boy can’t fall asleep. All kinds of thoughts start swirling around his head. They are wonderful and dangerous, dubious and tantalizing, frightful and funny. The thoughts come and go, but then, a particular one dawns upon him and just won’t let him be – a very serious thought. The boy wonders why someone as small as him matters at all in the vast endlessness of the whole gigantic universe. He doesn’t manage to shake off the serious thought by morning and wakes up still feeling tiny and pointless. But then, the boy meets someone even smaller than himself.
